guilty pleasures

Is it wrong that I have already broken the seal on the Christmas music and that I can’t wait to do the outside decorating? I raked the front yard (again) this afternoon in preparation for my lighted grazing doe. I’ve had this thing for about 6 years and the motor no longer does much as far as making the doe actually graze, but it’s still functional as a beautiful lighted object in my front yard come holiday time.

Some people think that hitting the holiday kool-aid prior to Turkey Day is overly commercial and not at all in the spirit of the season…in my mind, the sooner I can embrace how the season makes me feel…which is kind of all sparkly and hope-filled and generous and loving…the better. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Why not make it last a little longer.

Truth be told I will hold off until the Saturday after Thanksgiving (at least) to put up the Christmas lights outside…but it’s definitely an exercise in will power. As for the holiday music, I’ll happily listen to it, by myself so as not to subject anyone else to my carrolling, in the car while enjoying traffic. Nothing like a little Bing Crosby to combat road rage.

Tis the season…

TRUTH. No lie, I broke out my Christmas Pandora last week. And it’s awesome. And I’m so happy. I think sometimes people just like to hate on the commercialism. And it’s become uncool to just genuinely enjoy a time of year defined by togetherness, giving, and Charlie Brown.
