I made a tasty veggie pizza on the grill last night. My pizza stone doesn’t fit in the tiny convection oven we have, but it does fit on top of the grill. Whole wheat crust from Trader Joe’s, baby spinach, red onion, red pepper and sliced mushrooms. . .fresh mozzerella. . .all nice and bubbly by the time it was done.
El yummo. I’ll definitely be doing that again. it makes for a nice way to use up veggies you have lying around.

Tonight it’s chicken on the grill. . .I’ve got this marinade that was on DCist yesterday.
Orange Vinaigrette
Based on the citrus vinaigrette by Sally Schneider in A New Way to Cook.

4 T. orange juice
4 T. balsamic vinegar
1 t. Kosher salt
8 T. extra virgin olive oil
4 T. grated orange zest
2 t. ground pepper
3 T. minced fresh basil (optional)
3 t. minced fresh tarragon (optional)

I’m rather ready for a nice relaxing weekend. . .some quality time with moosebraying. . .and with Miller (the dog and probably the beer too). . .perhaps a viewing of the new X Men movie. . .more grilling, more chilling and some yard work. . .dang grass pollen . ..it means I get to do all the yard work this weekend. oh well.

vive la 3 day weekend!

I’m HUNGRY.
at 11:30.
again.

Why does this keep happening to me?
the theory…

Last night moosebraying and I attended what could possibly be the fastest Major League Baseball game I’ve ever attended. Clocking in at 2 hours 8 minutes. . .it was nice on a weeknight to not get home at 11:30. Miller appreciated it as well.

Life continues to hum along at an average pace. The only thing that’s really new is the dog. . .and that’s not saying much. It’s funny how when you’re in a place in your life where you feel content, satisfied, happy. . .there’s less to talk about. A far cry from my life a few years ago. . .when things were all chaotic and crazy and I was ignoring everything that was going wrong.

It’s my favorite time of year. The time of year when it is lighter later so when you get home there’s still so much day left. . .The time of year when TV wraps up for the season, so you have no excuse to not sit outside and enjoy a glass of iced tea while reading a magazine or book. . .The time of year when it’s appropriate to come home from work, throw on your flip flops and throw some meat on the barbecue for dinner. .. I’m looking forward to enjoying just that tonight. Salmon on the barbie. . .maybe some grilled asparagus as well.

Now I just need to get through this workday:)

later days,
me
